Day Two: L is for Lust
Defined by the dictionary: an overwhelming desire or craving
Prayer time focus: open my heart, open my mind
God: the owner of my body and soul
Ephesians 4:19 “Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more.”
Colossians 3:5 “Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.
Practical: If any items on your list from day one go under this subject, the group them together on a sheet of paper. Pray and decide how to repent. Find someone you trust and go talk to them, confess to them, and pray together. Also, find one verse that tells about God's power to destroy your sins and cast them away from you then find another about how you belong to Him. Maybe you have no trouble in this area...great! Just to be humble though...if nothing matches this section on your list, go to a friend and ask them if they see anything in your character in this area. Please be aware that although we usually think lust equals something sexual, we can be lustful in other areas...so broaden your gaze when praying!
Prayer time focus: Speak on a deeper level to God about the items on your list that connect to lust and pray through the verses you just found. If you have found there is nothing you are struggling with in this area, then another option is to pray about protection for your friends and loved ones in this area. Ask God if there is anyone you should go to and speak with to ask them how they are doing in this area.
There is such peace when you are cleansed from lust and the guilt it brings. May God be the only one you overwhelmingly desire!
