Nasty Woman: POV of Trump's Use of This Term

POV.

I was reflecting this morning on how much Trump uses the term "nasty" to describe someone, especially women. Did you know that the dictionary definition of the slang phrase "nasty woman" refers to an ill-tempered, sexually adventurous, or self-empowered woman? It was coined in 2016 by Trump and he uses it to describe people, mostly woman, who disagree and challenge him or someone he supports.

After he began using this phrase towards women, knowing it’s used based on nothing of a woman’s actual character or actions, many women began embracing it with the heart of, “Well okay, if I’m considered nasty just because I’m standing up to you, then call me Nasty."

I have been contemplating on why guys call women names. Usually it seems to be in an attempt to make others view them negatively and make them feel ashamed. When a person is feeling small or can't come up with a sophisticated, solid point of view, they often resort to simplified, abusive language.

Very truly I tell you, Trump has shown himself to be a guy that hates accomplished women who disagree with him. I imagine he enjoys thinking up names to call people. Actually there is a Wikipage dedicated to all the nicknames he's publicly calls others. I'm certain if we ever met, he would eventual call me names no matter how much decorum I carried.

As a President, I find his rhetoric to have zero class. Recently I watched him in a press conference calling Kamala Harris nasty and he then proceeded to again call Elizabeth Warren by the nickname he's given her, Pocahontas. Trump's behavior is classically misogynistic. Trump, like Yoho when he said horrible things against Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, shows himself to be a guy filled with animosity towards women. Guys who exhibit this type of behavior show the depth of their weakness as a men. Men who appreciate and respect women do not resort to middle school name calling or bullying of any kind for that matter.

Cases in point: I'm dating a really wonderful guy. We do not agree on everything, even politically, but he doesn't use this as his license to call me hurtful names or try to shame me for my beliefs. Ever! There's an old quote that says, "Men want respect. Women want love." That's overtly simplifying relationships. Women and men desire both respect as well as love! You aren't loving someone unless you are also respectful towards them. I was being cute and joked with my fella early on that I was looking for a "Respecter & Protector" and yet in all seriousness, not a joke. Those are key characteristics that need to exist between men and women.

I also thought back to see if I could remember a time I've ever heard my Papa be disrespectful to a woman. I cannot think of one single time. I asked my mom too and she can't either. Thought about my uncle...nope, not him either. I'm not saying the men in my life are infallible. I'm just saying that in my experience a secure, strong man doesn't feel he has to resort to name calling or belittling. The men in my life just don't carry a deep internal bias against women.

Evidenced by his own words, I find Trump to be bigoted. And it's confusing to me when I come across others who can't see this and still support him. I'll leave them to work on their own heart and character.

Fundamentally, we need a President who loves Americans, in all our diversity. It's been stated that "America is advanced citizenship." How true! I'm beyond exhausted of how this one spreads discord and conflict. It is toxic. My whole spirit longs for us to be the United States again...instead of these United divided States. ♥️

Family time during the Quarantine

Spending time with family in late July through early August. My grandma celebrated her 90th birthday! My daughter's coworker braided her hair and taught her its African background. My son built his sister a sweet computer and has been spending time with friends. Branch is doing well but like us he is ready for the weather to cool down so we can spend more time outside. I'm also still working remotely and have been inspired by Hamilton's release on Disney+.
