Too Busy During Christmas?

Do you ever feel that the holiday season is so packed that your personal, unique times with God suffer?

I SURE DO!

I'm having that trouble right now. So as I was looking back at an old journal, I realized that in the past I would meditate on Christmas carols, study their history, find the scriptures they are based on, and sing a certain one all day. This has really helped me to stay focused on God during a season which can be so stressful and busy.

I hope this idea helps you too in these few weeks before Christmas. Click this link to hear part of this beautiful carol sung by "Libera". In this carol below, what really moves me are these sentiments.
  • Rest for my heart and be merry, don't be discouraged because my Savior, the Christ, has been born! I'm personally so thankful to be born after he was born - I could praise God for that daily.
  • Jesus came to save me from Satan's power when I was going astray.
  • A tiding is like a news broadcast - Shout it out because we have this comfort and joy :)
  • Sing praise to God and embrace others in true love & brotherhood.
  • To not walk in shadow (or gloom) but be light because my sins are completely erased - completely!

God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen
God rest ye [you], merry gentlemen, let nothing you dismay.
Remember Christ our Savior was born on Christmas day;
To save us all from Satan’s power when we were gone astray.

Chorus: O tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy;
O tidings of comfort and joy.

From God our heavenly Father a blessed angel came;
And unto certain shepherds brought tidings of the same;
How that in Bethlehem was born the Son of God by name.
Chorus:

The shepherds at those tidings rejoiced much in mind,
And left their flocks a-feeding in tempest, storm and wind,
And went to Bethlehem straightaway this blessèd Babe to find.
Chorus:

But when to Bethlehem they came where our dear Savior lay,
They found Him in a manger where oxen feed on hay;
His mother Mary kneeling unto the Lord did pray.
Chorus:

Now to the Lord sing praises all you within this place,
And with true love and brotherhood each other now embrace;
And no more walking shadow your sins have been erased,
